Louis Vuitton Menswear FW 21 behind the scenes video

Following on from another successful season, menswear creative director Virgil Abloh has released Part 1 and Part 2 of an exclusive behind the scenes film following on from Louis Vuitton's menswear FW21 show debut.

The Maison has released a beautiful and intimate 15 minute short film, taking viewers on a journey behind the scenes backstage from pre-show planning production Zoom meetings to styling and casting five days out til show. Filmed and composed in almost a mini documentary style fashion, the short film offers an inimitable look at Louis Vuitton menswear under the helm of its creative director; with softly spoken commentary from Virgil Abloh himself.

"Ironically, 'my real profession' is architecture," Virgil states in Part 2. "A lot of people quote my career, like "oh you didn't go to fashion design school," but I went to architecture and I make my architecture in my fashion design studio... Fashion isn’t about the clothing... It’s about the picture that’s painted. About how clothing can reinforce or destabilise prejudice. And that’s the collection."

The behind the scenes mini documentary is segmented into frames, counting down each day til its Fall Winter 2021 menswear debut. Offering a broad insider scope into the intimate affairs that go into the making of a collection and putting on a show, every intimate detail is revealed from styling boards to the presentations show choreography, all neatly categorised into characters and teams.

Movement and dance was integral to its menswear presentation, the film offering beautiful insight behind the choreography and the thought processes in place with producing the show. The behind the scenes video sheds light onto intimate and political moments with Abloh and his musings, with the full menswear collection up for viewing on louisvuitton.com.
