Regarded as fashion’s foremost illustrator and credited with discovering Jerry Hall and Grace Jones, Antonio Lopez left a bright and lasting legacy.
Through his fashion illustrations, mixed-media works and polaroids – sexually liberated and brimming with youth – the Puerto Rico-born Lopez
challenged perceptions of beauty in the 70s and 80s, influencing fellow artists and designers alike. Three decades worth of Lopez’s drawings,
prototypes and photographs are on display for Antonio Lopez: Future Funk Fashion, at El Museo del Barrio, New York, until November 26.
