New Balance is well and truly having its day in the sun. Plastered all over our feeds and nestled in the wardrobes of what seems like almost everyone, the brands' presence is widespread. After all, if we're not clawing tooth and nail trying to track down the New Balance 550's, we're keenly awaiting the next drop of their famous dad sneaker — and that's just what this announcement is.
New Balance have teamed up with Levi's to makeover the covetable 990v5 sneaker. Arriving in Mallard Blue, (or as we like to imagine, a Canadian tuxedo) and Elephant Skin, no I'm not kidding. The former iteration features varying textures and cut outs of Levi's recognisable Shrink-To-Fit denim, arriving in a tonal cocktail of blues broken up only by cream laces. Both styles are crafted with shaggy suede overlays, while the Grey shoe offers a colour palette of silver, taupe and white.
As with all of New Balance's footwear, this collab will be extremely comfy thanks to dual-toned ENCAP midsoles — they're basically Cadillacs for our feet.

This isn't the first time we've seen the two American labels join forces. Earlier in August the pair out their heads together to bring us a new take on the New Balance 992 — another style clad in denim. As usual, we were frothing at the bit to claim a pair. Not only that, but last year we saw the 327 and 1300 reimagined between New Balance and Levi's. Here's to plenty more collabs to come!
For those among us desperate to get their feet in a pair of the Levis x New Balance 990v5 collab, keep your eyes peeled on September 9, where the range will drop on both the Levi's and New Balance website. Both versions are priced at $380 AUD.
We love it when our favourite sneaker-styles get a fresh makeover and if you concur, you've probably seen Converse's CX line. You haven't? Peep the range here.
