The summer of Jonah Hill is very much underway, and so is a new comedy film starring our king, alongside none other than Eddie Murphy!
Kenya Barris will direct the Netflix feature, which will see Barris reunited with Murphy, who served as a writer on Coming 2 America, the comedy sequel to the comedian’s 1980s classic. Hill will co-write the script alongside Barris for the Netflix comedy, and is producing under Barris' Khalabo Ink Society banner and Hill's Strong Baby production company.
While we would love to be rattling on about the plot of the upcoming film, and all of the stunning comedy moments that Hill and Murphy would be capable of together, the narrative is unfortunately being kept under wraps, however what we do know, is that it will reportedly be an incisive examination of modern love and family dynamics and how clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences shape and affect relationships, with Murphy and Hill on the opposite sides of such divides.
We can safely say we are very much on board with the prospect of this project, especially since we've been simping over Hill ever since he got down with transcendental meditation and became the hot zen king we've been waiting for. In the meantime, while we wait for a morsel of extra info about the currently untitled project, you can understand our fervent new obsession for the bleach-blonde surf king in our manifesto on why it is now the age of Jonah Hill, skinny brunette boys be dammed! It's all about Jonah now.
The legendary Murphy has been working with Netflix for a while now as he returned from a movie hiatus in the 2010s with his 2019 biopic, Dolemite is My Name; which was an awards circuit player for the streamer. He last starred in Coming 2 America and is currently developing a sequel to another 80s hit, Beverly Hills Cop.
