This kind of approach is at the heart of the new Jo Malone London Armadale boutique. Situated on High Street, the space embodies its signature British charm but with a modern approach to fragrance: luxurious services that focus on scent pairing, scent layering and personalisation, as well as finding a fragrance to mark life's big moments (if you're a 2025 bride, take note).
To mark the opening, RUSSH hosted friends in the boutique to experience all that's on offer: personalised scent layering with Luxury Experience Educator Maurice Barr, engraving, superlative hand massages, as well as a panel discussion with multidisciplinary artist Martyn Thompson and RUSSH Editor in Chief, Jess Blanch. Thompson, a friend and collaborator of Jo Malone London, created a series of custom ceramics and tapestries for the space. The boutique is also home to Thompson's Design Edition Fragrance Layered Candles, made from porcelain and adorned with his signature prints.
The day was proof that scent is sentimental; a time capsule, or way to preserve memories. Without knowing, Barr hand-picked creative Helen Driscoll's first-ever perfume, while fashion entrepreneur Sarah Crampton revisited the custom Jo Malone London blend she wore on her wedding day.
For those planning a visit, the boutique is home to all the Jo Malone London classics like Wood Sage & Sea Salt and English Pear & Freesia, plus the Cologne Intense range (we love the newest launch, Hinoki & Cedarwood). You can also explore bath & body, gifting, and the entire range of home fragrance.
Afterwards, guests headed to nearby Gimlet for lunch. Right in the CBD, the restaurant is all high ceilings, huge windows, refined service and exceptional food. RUSSH and friends sat in the private dining space, enjoying a menu of duck frites, house salad and chocolate torte. With all senses delighted, it was back to the airport to return home to Sydney (but not without a new Jo Malone London signature, and appreciation for the way fragrance can make us feel something).More of the just-opened Armadale boutique, below.
