For Chanel's SS22 pre-collection, the luxury French house has selected friend of the brand and singer, songwriter, and composer Izïa Higelin to star as the face of the campaign.

Known for angelic melodies and hypnotic performances, Higelin captures the spirit of Chanel with her soulful rock music in a campaign video directed by Chanel ambassador, Caroline de Maigret. Creating an atmosphere of freedom and movement by Higelin and De Maigret, the duo evoke generosity and joy through the film, which is accompanied by an interview conducted by De Maigret, where the two discuss the collection inspiration and the essence of Chanel.

“CHANEL has a rock edge, in all the ways that rock can be so chic, and that's what I liked about this collection. I didn't think I would have such an easy time moving about in these clothes. It was really lovely to embody these pieces.” Higelin says in the interview.

The shots, lensed by Leïla Smara are grounded in a joyfulness and looseness, the seriousness of the luxury French house no where to be found as Higelin is captured smiling, clad in a black leather jacket and shorts ensemble embellished with metal eyelets, which contrast with a red silk blouse whose flounces move harmoniously.

Alognside, Higelin is dressed in a coat and dress in black twill that has been printed with silver camellias, and in another look, wide-cut printed denim jeans paired with a lilac quilted bag. Tweed ensembles play with length and proportion with hiked up mini skirts to reveal a more sensual side of the brand, with bands of torso exposed under a cropped black shirt.

A romantic silhouette is revealed in one shot, with a cashmere sweater layered over a black silk shirt, the double C motif peeking through the cashmere knit. Virginie Viard's affinity for punk-rock codes are seen in the details, in chunky black leather boots adorned with charms alongside chokers and cuff bracelets.
