Inside Alexandra Keating’s intimate Bondi launch of marine-powered body care brand Uni

Inside Alexandra Keating's intimate Bondi launch of Uni

Under the pink glow of a Bondi sunset, Uni made its Australian debut in a setting befitting its ethos – ocean-powered beauty, luxury, and sustainability intertwined. At Bondi Icebergs, founder Alexandra Keating welcomed 40 friends of the brand and industry insiders for an intimate dinner celebrating the Australian launch of her marine-powered body care brand, Uni.

Guests were greeted with a Hugo Spritz and freshly shucked oysters, elegantly presented on a three-tier ice sculpture adorned with sea urchin – an homage to the brand’s namesake, Uni, a nod to the goodness found within. The table was set with carved soap keepsakes, each inscribed with the event’s details, a tactile reminder of Uni’s commitment to design and sustainability.

The menu for the evening was a love letter to the brand's marine-powered philosophy. Polenta chips and caviar elevated the first course, before a final indulgence arrived tableside – a decadent tiramisu.

Among those in attendance were some of Australia’s most influential creatives, including Christelle Scifo, Dominique Elissa, Nat Buchanan, Joanna Halpin, Daniel Askill, Azizi Donnelly, Marc Freeman, Zara Wong, Eva Galambos and RUSSH Editor-in-Chief Jess Blanch.

For Keating, an Australian-born, Los Angeles-based entrepreneur, this homecoming marks a full-circle moment. Already a US cult-favourite with eight industry awards, her brand is now available at Mecca stores around the country. The brand's body care line-up includes five products, from the hydrating Uni Skin Shield Body Wash to the clinically formulated 24-Hour Body Serum, enriched with marine biotechnology and native Australian ingredients like Kakadu Plum and Caviar Lime.

Uni’s approach to beauty is more than skin-deep. Committed to sustainability, the brand follows a “Blue Beauty” philosophy, formulating with ocean-safe ingredients and packaging in sleek, refillable aluminum bottles designed by Marc Altan, known for his work with Comme des Garçons and Tom Ford. With investment from SOUNDWaves, Ashton Kutcher’s sustainability-focused venture, Uni is sure to continue making waves in the industry, proving that skincare can be luxurious, high-performance, and eco-conscious all at once.
