Sick of dry winter skin? These 3 simple steps will actually fix it

Winter’s icy grip has left our skin parched and protesting. If you're finding it a bit of a challenge to maintain a glow, you're not the only one. Despite our best efforts with elaborate skincare routines, dryness, irritation, and discomfort have prevailed. The plummeting temperatures and humidity levels create a hostile environment for our skin, stripping it of moisture and causing it to feel tight, itchy, and unbalanced. The constant shift between freezing outdoors and heated indoors only exacerbates the issue, leading to breakouts and dullness.

While quenching your thirst from within is crucial, your skin deserves a targeted approach and a bit of extra TLC during winter. Fortunately, there are some easy steps and products to keep in mind next time you do your skincare that will restore your complexion’s radiance and resilience during these biting months.

 

Cleanse

One of the best tips I learnt in skincare, is to not wash your face in the morning, a splash of water at most if you must. And quite frankly, it's been a game changer.

Come evening, it's double cleanse time. I rely on a cleanser that not only removes impurities but also replenishes moisture. The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Hydrating Foam Cleanser is a holy grail. Its weightless formula, infused with squalane, apricot kernel, and avocado oil, leaves my skin feeling purified, plumped, and undeniably youthful. Tone

I never realised the power of a toner, until I tried one and made it apart of my skincare routine. Keeping your skin barrier calm and balanced after cleansing has a lot to do with maintaining pH balance, which the cold dry air can misbalance. After cleansing you want to grab a toner to restore this pH level, that calms and essentially prepares your skin with antioxidants.
