Our undying desire to curate the perfectly done-but-undone interior means that we're always prowling for new, chic home decor brands. Because sourcing the perfect pieces is all about finding something special outside of the typical homewares locations.
The latest brand to come our way is a new design house called House of Slim, a designer furniture brand all about bespoke marble creations. New to the market, House of Slim has launched with a considered and intimate range of staples - the key pieces that will timeless add character into any space regardless of aesthetic or trend.
After glossing through the sleek, mid-century designs, it's unsurprising to know that the brand takes its name from Slim Aarons - a key source of creative and nostalgic inspiration.
Co-founder and creative director of thee brand, Holly Chippindale has spent her career travelling the world as the content manager and creator for Faithfull The Brand. Now, she is turning her attentions to the creation of slow interiors and timeless statement pieces. Her inspiration came from her first home renovation wish triggered her love affair with both onyx and marble - and the way these textures and patterns blend mediterranean aesthetics, rustic styles and mid-century influences.
House of Slim’s first ever collection, called Chapter I was born out of the desire to create a new home decor experience. Holly wanted to create investment pieces that would last the years using signature elements, like onyx and marble. Chapter I uses spherical details to emulate feminine curves and uses textural finishes to add character. Sourcing materials locally, they are then transformed into bespoke pieces with a personal touch - each individually vetted and quality controlled by the Australian founders in Indonesia.
“We set out to create a small line which worked in with artisans and natural elements, with a key focus on designing pieces that could be enjoyed in the home beyond one generation. We are fortunate to have called Indonesia home for the last 5 years, so we’re incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to personally build these long lasting relationships with our factory and artisans and be able to tell our hand-made story behind every piece.
“My grandparents fell in love in the 70s and packed up their lives to build a Wallpaper Showroom. My mum has continued the lineage and built her Interior Showroom to what it is today. For me, the ties to slow interiors run deeper than a visual level; rather a generational connection that we are thrilled to explore with House of Slim," says Holly.
The collection is available to purchase via their online boutique www.houseofslim.com and in-store Affordable Decorators, The Gold Coast.
