Radio CHANEL tunes into Hong Kong’s creative heartbeat

Earlier this week, and set against the architectural allure of the Hong Kong Design Institute, CHANEL curated an auditory feast. Enter ‘Radio CHANEL,’ a live broadcast event that orchestrated an inspired dialogue between emerging voices and cultural heavyweights from Hong Kong's vibrant arts scene. Here, under the Hong Kong sun, the forecourt transformed into an open-air studio, a dynamic stage that brought together House ambassadors, artists, and visionaries in a collective conversation about creativity and its transmission across generations.

The event was anchored by CHANEL ambassador Caroline de Maigret, whose effortless charisma set the tone for the day, alongside journalist and producer Géraldine Sarratia and local cultural luminary, DJ Wong Chi-Chung. Their discussions flowed seamlessly, exploring the ever-evolving landscape of art and fashion in Hong Kong. Musical interludes by Moon Tang and Jay Fung punctuated the conversations, adding a rhythmic cadence that underscored the theme of creative expression.

CHANEL’s global ambassadors Penélope Cruz and Whitney Peak shared the stage with filmmaker Audrey Diwan, model and creative director Margaret Zhang, and designer Willo Perron, offering insights into their artistic journeys. The audience, comprised of guests from the show, were treated to intimate moments of exchange with Hong Kong’s cultural icons: legendary actor Chow Yun-Fat, actress Fala Chen, and the visionary director Man Lim-Chung. Each brought their own distinct voice to the conversation, painting a vibrant picture of the city’s artistic pulse.

The event’s lineup further included notable figures such as chef Archan Chan, whose culinary artistry has redefined local gastronomy, and artist Chan Oi-Ying, who spoke of finding inspiration in the city’s contrasts. Olympic swimmer Siobhan Haughey added an athletic perspective, while photographer Wing Shya’s reflections on visual storytelling connected fashion with the art of photography. The day concluded with Chinese actress Huang Yao, rounding out a cast of creatives who, together, encapsulated the spirit of Hong Kong – a city where tradition meets innovation, and creativity is a shared language.
