Hand sanitisers are something of a hot commodity right now. In the fight to stop the spread of the coronavirus, stores, organisations and individuals are loading up on sanitisers, for a good reason. But this does mean that many stockists are sold out and hand sanitiser is becoming increasingly hard to find.
But there are still plenty of places you can find hand sanitiser, you just need to know where to look. Just remember, it's been advised that only formulations of over 60% alcohol are effective at killing viruses, bacteria and fungi. Keep that in mind when you're doing your shopping. We've rounded up a few hand sanitisers that you can still buy - and we've made sure they're at least 60% alcohol.
Dr Bronner Hand Sanitiser Lavender
Coming in at 62% alcohol is the Dr Bronner Hand Sanitiser. I think there are a few different scents, but this lavender iteration is my pick and still in stock at David Jones. It's a certified organic product with no petrochemicals.
Archie Rose Hand Sanitiser
This one isn't technically in stock just yet but it is available for pre-order on the Archie Rose site. Deliveries will commence on May 4. Most of us will be more familiar with Archie Rose as a distillery, but it's recently added hand sanitiser to its product list due to the coronavirus pandemic outbreak. My local supermarket had a sample that I was able to try last week. It smells rather lovely.
Grown Alchemist Hydra-Hand Sanitiser
In at 70% is the Grown Alchemist Hydra-Hand Sanitiser. This lush pick is still in stock on the Grown Alchemist website, so get in while you can. According to the product description the "Tri-Hyaluronan Complex and Antioxidants" in the formulation add moisture and prevent your skin from drying out.
Sukin Antibacterial Hand Sanitiser
Also in at 70% alcohol is Sukin's Antibacterial Hand Sanitiser Spray. Sukin is a fabulous affordable Australian brand and it's vegan too. This one is enriched with aloe vera and green tea for a little bit of nourishment. And it's still in stock at Nourished Life.
St. Rose Shield Rinse-Free Wash
This sustainable hand sanitiser has been designed with a refillable bottle - and it's packaged in a glass bottle so no plastic. At 80% alcohol, it packs a punch. But it has added silver which has hydrating properties, to hopefully give your hands a reprieve. Available online at St. Rose.
Black Chicken Hand Sanitiser
With a massive 80% ethanol alcohol content is the Black Chicken Hand Sanitiser. Vegan, made in Australia, gluten and palm oil free, there's a lot to love about this product. It also includes some coconut oil and essential oils to ensure the high alcohol doesn't annihilate your skin. 80% makes it certainly one of the most potent sanitisers I've seen and it's still in stock at Nourished Life.
After all that hand sanitiser, you'll likely need to give your skin a little TLC - so you should also check out our guide to lovely, luxe hand creams. You hands will thank you.
Stay safe, stay home.
