While I do not live in a realm where the idea of 'healthy recipes' feels particularly enticing, we all know the moment where, after 17 vodka sodas and a weekend of eating exclusively beige food, our bodies feel that they could probably do with a little piece of broccoli, as a treat. Healthy food, in today's diet-culture-ridden paradigm, often feels like diet food disguised in a leafy green dress (Glenn Martens Jean-Paul Gaultier Couture, anyone?). It's safe to say that many of us are collectively fed up with the idea that we need to be eating healthy in order to optimise ourselves at all times, especially when each message is underpinned with the feeling that nothing we are doing is quite "enough", many op-ed's have been penned about the dangers of our obsession with healthy eating. There is, however, room to eat well, to nourish our bodies in a balanced and loving way, to put whatever you choose into it in and sometimes choose healthy recipes because it's what you feel like.
Which is why below, we're rounding up a selection of non-miserable "healthy" recipes that will help soothe your gut and top you up on the nourishment scale. Being healthy doesn't look one way, which is why it's important that we all listen to our bodies and what we individually need to feel energetic and satisfied. Each of these recipes are created by nutritionist Jacqueline Alwill to offer healthy recipes that are nutritionally balanced and delicious to eat, while providing us with essential fatty acids and vitamins to get the most out of each recipe.
