An inspiring part of our role as owners of Grace is frequently being back in Paris.  We love visiting our favourite haunts, but also relish the chance to try somewhere new and noteworthy.  Being there in summer is a whole different experience - dusk comes at 10.30pm and the city literally spills onto the pavement as terraces and sidewalk tables are crowded with happy people.

For the ultimate day in the French capital, pick a museum or gallery for a culture fix - the Musée des Arts décoratifs is smaller and often features incredible tributes like the Dries Van Noten exhibition. Uber or train out to Saint-Ouen and stroll through the weekend markets for amazing vintage furniture finds. Walk from the Marais across the Pont de l'Archevêché, right by Notre Dame, through the Île Saint Louis and into the heart of the Left Bank. Nothing beats walking to get to know a city.

Ever since our first trip many moons ago we have always stayed at the Hotel du Petit Moulin in the Marais.  Designed by Christian Lacroix, every room is unique and the service and family-run atmosphere really makes it our home away from home. The position suits us perfectly, with countless showrooms within walking distance, not to mention delicious local cafes and a smattering of great shopping destinations on our doorstep including Merci, Bon Ton, Acne Studios, The Broken Arm, Tom Greyhound and Leclaireur.  The Petit Moulin’s sister hotel, Le Pavillon de la Reine on the beautiful Place des Vosges, is also nearby and offers a gorgeous courtyard for drinks (especially in the summer!).

Comfortable trainers, a pair of jeans and a classic blazer; sunglasses, sunscreen and a cross-body bag; and your sense of adventure.

Taste …
For a delicious lunch and the best people watching, plus a view of the Eiffel Tower, don’t miss L’Avenue. You’ll be sitting next to Kate Moss, Kanye West or Princess Beatrice as you nibble on your tuna tartare and pommes frites.

Shop …
For a special souvenir of your trip to Paris stop by L’Officine Universelle Buly on Rue Bonaparte. While rather pricey, the stunning packaging and centuries-old recipes (since 1803!) used in this magnificent apothecary make for a decadent and unique gift to self or loved ones. Don’t miss the chance to watch the trained staff calligraphy the item and recipient name on the packaging as well!
