If you're not already tuning in to the Gossip Girl reboot, it's time to stop what you're doing and get up to speed. Whether you're watching to hopefully cure the overwhelming nostalgia, or simply miss the bustling streets of New York City, there's one thing we can all agree on; the new Gossip Girl generation certainly know a thing or two when it comes to delivering unforgettable fashion moments. None, more so, than the show's leading lady and style icon – Julien.
Portrayed by actor Jordan Alexander, it's clear from the very first episode that this character is one to watch. She has what every Gen Z girl (and beyond) wants – an impressive selection of vintage designer handbags and an undeniable flair for streetwear. She's 2021's vision of style; mixing oversized shirting and suiting with flirty and playful touches. If you want our opinion, there's no question that Julien is the style icon of the Gossip Girl reboot. The fact that she loves to shop at NET-A-PORTER is a dead giveaway.
While we're still very early on in the season, we've already been served too many covetable looks to keep our feelings suppressed for much longer. Below, our sartorial love letter to Julien, the queen of Gossip Girl style.
Looks good in uniform

From the moment the original Gossip Girl hit our screens, we wondered what life would be like if we were all afforded creative freed0m with our school uniform. The reboot of course, has kept us dreaming of this luxury; and there's no question that Julien's school-uniform style is the most superior. Her take on private school chic is the perfect mix of tailored pieces and androgynous styling. Who could forget the oversized pinstripe shirt and tie pin moment on the Met steps? Elsewhere throughout the season, we see her pair her take on the uniform with an extraordinary selection of knee high boots – from staple black suede, to comfortable yet stylish cowboys made for the streets of New York. I would happily go back to high school if I could dress like this.
Understands how to nail athleisurewear chic

Sure, the word athleisurewear doesn't always have the greatest of connotations, but it's the way Julien puts these looks together that ultimately proves why she is the undercover style icon of the Gossip Girl reboot. This girl knows how to make us look at a pair of bike shorts and not cringe in dismay. The reason why she makes it work so well is because she understands the place of athleisurewear and doesn't try to push its boundaries. Tube socks, varsity jackets and a vintage Louis Vuitton. The true definition of a sporting icon.
Goes all out with her evening wear

Although we tend to see Julien wearing more relaxed or casual outfits (at least, by the old Gossip Girl standards), she definitely doesn't do low-key when it comes to her evening wear. And honestly, did we expect anything less? She does evening wear the new Gossip Girl way – championing contemporary and highly-relevant designers like Christopher John Rogers. It's the right mix of playful, elegant but still current; which perfectly describes her style. And although the episode hasn't aired just yet, we know there's a major Beyoncé-inspired sequenced-dress outfit coming.
Is the master of streetwear

It only makes sense that someone described as an 'influencer' knows how to nail street style fashion. The key? An excellent selection of streetwear appropriate pieces, of course. Unlike Blair and Serena, Julien is certainly not afraid of a sneaker moment – in fact, they make just as much of an appearance as her boots and heels do. From chunky 'dad sneakers' to the covetable Maison Margiela x Reebok Tabi sneaker. She also understands that a great street style look is all in the outerwear; a staple Burberry trench and oversized suede-shearling jacket never go astray in NYC.
Knows how to accessorise

Is Julien's accessorising a little over the top sometimes? Absolutely. Do we still want it all? Of course. Although she isn't really one to focus on jewellery, Julien has garnered quite a name for her extensive collection of neck ties – something we feel like Blair would have loved. Her selection of vintage designer bags is also not to be overlooked, from Dior monogram moments to blazing red Fendi Baguettes. She keeps things a little left of field (that JW Anderson cap bag will go down in history), and isn't afraid to wear things others aren't. All while remaining entirely true to her own sense of style. The marker of a true fashion icon.
