We can rarely get enough of actor and Chanel girl, Margaret Qualley, and luckily, a new biopic starring Qualley has been confirmed to ensure we don't run out of screen time of her.
Qualley will reportedly star alongside Jamie Bell in a biopic on Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers titled Fred & Ginger for Amazon Studios and Automatik. The duo will also be producing the film, which profiles the historically iconic dancing duo, and takes a look at their relationship behind the scenes of their memorable career, and the love they shared. Jonathan Entwistle will reportedly direct the biopic based off a script penned by Arash Amel.
Considering it is a film about dancers, Bell and Qualley are aptly cast, with Bell having strong roots in dance, proven by his breakout performance in 2000’s Billy Elliot and his most recent work as Bernie Taupin in the Elton John biopic Rocketman. Qualley has also performed extensively as a dancer, with a background in classical ballet and as seen in FX’s Fosse/Verdon and an iconic Kenzo perfume ad directed by Spike Jonze, in which something completely rogue comes over a teary Qualley at an awards show, and she busts out of the building in choreographed chaos.
As for the real Astaire and Rogers, the couple starred in 10 movies together, amongst them, were notable films Flying Down to Rio in 1933 and The Barkleys of Broadway in 1949. According to Variety, Fred & Ginger is said to "examine what individually drove Astaire and Rogers while celebrating the creative magic between them. It will tell the real love story between these two legends both on and offscreen."
We don't have a lot more information to go off just yet as far as a projected start date and release date but will be sure to keep you updated with what's to come.
