Five steps to detox

It’s that time of year when we indulge a bit more than usual, but staying clean and fresh can be simple. It’s all about balance, whether you prefer to cleanse before the holidays, after or during, here are some effective ways to get the most out of your detox regimen.

Lemon every day
Start your morning by drinking a glass of warm lemon water. This drink is purifying to the liver and blood as well as stimulating to the digestive and metabolic system.

Brush up
Dry brushing is excellent to improve circulation and expel any toxins that become stored in the top layer of the skin’s epidermis. It’s best to start at your feet and work your way up your body with long strokes. This is ideally done before showering to properly cleanse.

Embrace oil
Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic practice that has become a popular way to improve ones’ health. Unwanted toxins exist in everyone’s mouth and by swishing coconut, sesame or even olive oil for 10-15 minutes the oil draws these impurities out. Moreover, oil pulling helps with freshening breath and relieving dental issues.

Heat up
Sweating is a classic way to rid our bodies of unwanted junk. Infrared saunas, steam rooms and just good ol’ exercise are your best bet.

Bathe right
Epsom salts are made up of magnesium a mineral that many of us lack due to less nutrient dense foods in our modern world. Magnesium is excellent for detoxifying and relaxing our bodies. Scoop a cup in the bathtub and add some pure essential oils for a more aromatic experience.

This juice alkalises, speeds up metabolism and detoxes the liver to aid your efforts.
