On February 27, at 7:17pm our second Full Moon for the calendar year arrives.
While it may seem unusual to those of us in the Southern Hemisphere currently feeling the heat of summer, this Moon is known as the Full Snow Moon. It draws its name from Native American folklore as this Full Moon signalled a month of heavy snowfall, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac.
This Full Moon falls in the sign of Virgo, something which can ring alarm bells for some. While Earth Virgo offers warm and comforting energy, the more unconventional and emotional souls out there can tend to feel overwhelmed by Virgo's notoriously critical nature. As the energetic peak of the current lunation, tensions will be running high and the undercurrents and themes since the last New Moon will come to the surface. As such, it's important to be in charge of the energy you choose to invite in during this time.
If you've read into the meaning of your Moon Sign, then you'll know that the Moon rules our inner self. This is our core self, the person we view ourselves as when we're alone. And while Virgo's industrious energy can beneficial in inspiring you to do more, it can often lead us to fill up our schedules and leave very little time to look after your inner self. Add in the fact that Full Moons literally make us more energised and make it harder for us to sleep, it can be a recipe for self neglect - something that may feel particularly disruptive for sensitive Water Signs who thrive on TLC. As a solve, channel these productive vibes into your own self care. When crafting your to do list (because Virgo will certainly inspire you to make one), add wellness as a line item along side all your other life admin to ensure it doesn't fall to the wayside.
But there are plenty of good vibes to be had from the energising Full Moon in Virgo. As the close of the warmer weather reaches us, it's time to prepare for the change of seasons. Let Virgo help you rid yourself of the things you don't want to take with you into the next phase of the year. Let go of grudges, stress and any other toxicity that is clogging you mental bandwidth. It's also a great time to clean house - literally. Virgo will inspire you to declutter and tidy up your home, which will help you move into the cooler months with a fresh perspective.
Who will be affected most by this Full Moon
While Taurus and Capricorn will likely thrive in the energy from sister sign Virgo, others will have a little more trouble. Sensitive Water Signs Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio may feel more delicate during this time. These creative spirits will not appreciate the nit-picking that comes from Virgo's perfectionist energy. It's important to remember not to take things too personally and that Virgo's perfectionism stems from a positive place, one of help and self improvement. If you know a Water Sign, go easy on them and try not to let this celestial event make you overly critical.
Sagittarius may also find this time challenging. These wanderers will not appreciate the structures Virgo attempts to place on their inner self. Rather than trying to resolve these juxtaposing influences, use what you're given. Perhaps the Virgo's organisation skills to help plan your next holiday!
