Balenciaga presents Cristóbal Balenciaga’s archive exhibition
To honour the 2023 European Heritage Days on 16-17 September, Balenciaga are presenting an exhibition entitled The Woman Behind The Dress, a retrospective exhibition of Cristóbal Balenciaga’s archives. Spotlighting the female form and couture techniques, the never-before-seen selection of 30 Haute Couture pieces and the 20 morphological mannequins on display were made for royal families members, socialites, close friends of the House and artists, including the actress Ingrid Bergman, the choreographer Agnes de Mille, the philanthropist Mona von Bismarck.
The Woman Behind The Dress will be presented at the Balenciaga headquarters in Paris, at 40 rue de Sèvres, Kering.
bassike releases capsule collection with Australian creatives Bart Celestino, Quinn Carmichael and Kitty Callaghan
To celebrate the launch of the next creative iteration of #morethanbassike – bassike x – the brand threw a party at Paramount House Hotel last night, which featured special performances from Lara Andallo and Shantan Wantan Ichiban. In tandem with the event, a limited-edition collection, created in collaboration with Australian creatives Bart Celestino, Quinn Carmichael and Kitty Callaghan, was released.
BOSS preview limited-edition garments using HeiQ AeoniQ™ sustainable fabric
BOSS have given us a sneak preview of several garments from their upcoming Fall Winter 23 runway event, which is scheduled for Friday 22 September at Milan Fashion Week. Three, 'see-now, buy-now' outerwear styles, crafted in cutting-edge HeiQ AeoniQ™ fabric make up the brand's limited-edition capsule collection, which will be made available for purchase online and in select BOSS stores just after the runway presentation on Friday.
Bottega Veneta honours Suki Seokyeong Kang at Leeum Museum of Art
Bottega Veneta have partnered with the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul, South Korea to open a solo exhibition of Suki Seokyeong Kang's work, entitled Willow Drum Oriole this month. The exhibition and accompanying video work employ Kang's unique sensitivity to audiovisual, tactical and spatiotemporal experiences.
“Although the works of the landscape each exist in different forms and ways, they collectively unravel a narrative of togetherness as they organically integrate and disperse. The artist thereby presents an arena in which I, you, and we exist wholesomely, persistently mediating our imbalances and differences,” said the Leeum Museum of Art.
Charles & Keith release capsule collection with Henn Kimm
Charles & Keith have collaborated with South Korean artist Henn Kimm on a capsule collection of shoes and bags, featuring Kimm's signature illustrations across boots, bags, hair accessories and a blanket. Kimm attended the brand's Gangnam store opening in celebration of the new collection.
Louis Vuitton launches a podcast
The French fashion House has launched an exclusive podcast Louis Vuitton [Extended], taking listeners on an auditory journey through the minds and visionaries that helped to write Louis Vuitton's cultural history. Hosted by French fashion journalist and documentary maker Loïc Prigent, the 20-40 minute long podcast episodes will drop bi-monthly on all main audio streaming platforms, from Thursday 14 September.
The first episode features Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director, Pharrell Williams.
Lucy Folk releases spring capsule collection
Lucy Folk's spring capsule looks at the interplay between workwear classics like the denim jacket, and utilitarian tailoring. Made by highly-skilled artisans based in a small, family-run atelier in India, the collection is crafted meticulously from raw silks and organic cottons, each individually hand-beaded and embroidered.
Mulberry and Stefan Cooke have introduced a limited-edition capsule collection at London Fashion Week
Mulberry have introduced a limited-edition capsule of 27 pre-loved bags – including their iconic Bayswater bag – each with a unique craft-focussed spin (think bows, swing, braid and slashes), which will be carried down the runway as part of Stefan Cooke's Spring Summer 24 runway collection at London Fashion Week today.
To celebrate the collection and runway show, Mulberry are hosting their first-ever pre-loved pop-up store from 16-25 September at 12 Poland Street in Soho, London. There you'll find a trove of vintage Mulberry icons and rare finds to explore.
RIMOWA celebrates their 125th anniversary in NYC
The German brand celebrated their 125th year with a star-studded party in New York City, the second stop of its touring exhibition SEIT 1898, following a pitstop in Tokyo in June. The exhibition is a retrospective that unravels and explores RIMOWA's long and acclaimed history, dating back to the late 1800s in Cologne, Germany. There will be a series of archival designs on display, as well as artworks from various friends of the brand. SEIT 1898 will also showcase the privately owned cases of public figures like Spike Lee, Roger Federer, LeBron James, Takashi Murakami, Billie Eilish, and Patti Smith.
Tommy Hilfiger and SZA host brunch at NYFW
On Sunday, American icons Tommy Hilfiger and rapper SZA hosted brunch at the Maxwell in Tribeca, NYC as part of this year's NYFW Spring 24. The gathering brought together a guest list of rising stars in fashion and music like Central Cee, Jasmine Tookes, Madelyn Cline and Rachel Sennott to celebrate Hilfiger's Fall 23 campaign.
