Fashion is having a big month right now. Straight off the back of mens week last week, we are now coming to the end of Couture Week in Paris, where endless inspiration has been provided c/o Chanel, Schiaparelli, Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier and Alaïa. The Row has released their Fall 2022 collection, which is, naturally, a blueprint of how we'd all like to be dressing in the cooler months, while Givenchy celebrates the launch of their 4G Monogram handbags. Locally, friend of RUSSH, Mimi Elashiry collaborates with Andean Collective for an exclusive collection. Below, see our 7 favourite fashion moments from the week that was.
Jean-Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Spring Summer 2022
For Y/Project’s Glenn Martens' one-off Jean Paul Gaultier residency show, Martens returned to the joy and imagination that is the JPG DNA. The magic of the Jean Paul Gaultier woman was reimagined through escapism, shape, colour, tulle, architecture, coral beading and corsetry. Martens Haute Couture effort has certainly not disappointed, and we can't wait to see what he does next at Diesel.
The Row Fall 2022
Last season for Spring Summer 2022, The Row adopted an air of femininity that we didn't expect to see from them. For Fall 22, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have returned to the silhouette they are known best for: loose tailoring and expert layering. the difference this season is in the pops of colour that intercept rich browns, stark blacks, and classic camels. It is a kind of modern sportswear meets classic tailoring unity, one that makes us look forward to office dressing once again.
Dior Maison launches ABCDior collection
A new line unveiled by Dior Maison, ABCDior possesses the same motifs as the Mitzah scarf collection that has now been applied onto a series of plates, valet trays, candles and stationery, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri herself. Reinventing the iconic toile de Jouy - the signature motif used to upholster Monsieur Dior’s very first boutique, called “Colifichets”, in 1947 - each creation poetically celebrates heritage, passion, desire and dreams.
Givenchy 4G Monogram Handbag
Givenchy has revealed a new addition to their handbag offering, with the 4G Monogram handbag: an embroidered canvas featuring the Houses iconic emblem. The Givenchy emblem returns as an all-over motif on a jacquard coated canvas bas, accentuated by sophisticated chains interlaced with leather and a wide leather shoulder strap. With a nod to the designer’s innovative hardware developments, this new iteration of Givenchy’s essential handbag feels both nostalgic thematically with a modern execution.
Celine Haute Parfumerie launches Rimbaud
Signalling the latest addition in the Houses' perfume collection, creative director Hedi Slimane has enriched the offering with a new fragrance, Rimbaud. This new opus complements the already exisiting nine perfumes which launched in 2019; and revives the Savoir Faire of French Haute parfumerie with a balance of masculine-feminine notes. Rimbaud finds its roots in Lavender and Iris, creating a delicate duo.
