From the moment Phoebe Dynevor stepped onto our screens as the graceful Daphne Bridgerton, the period-drama enthusiasts among us let out a collective squeal. Whether as part of the Bridgerton universe or otherwise; it was obvious that Dynevor's reign had only just begun. Following such an extremely successful first season and with season two currently in the works (sans Duke of Hastings, unfortunately); it was only a matter of time before we would start to see her résumé expand. Dynevor's latest role? Amazon Studio's upcoming series, Exciting Times.
Based on Irish writer Naoise Dolan’s debut 2020 novel, the series has been described as a modern romance with a twist. If you're wondering just how good the storyline is, the rights to the book had already been optioned even before it had hit shelves. Dolan has confirmed that she will be staying on board to co-write and direct; with Dynevor also working in front and behind the scenes as executive producer.
Although the news is relatively fresh and the details are scarce, we can't help but be excited to see Dynevor in a different light. Below, we're sharing everything we know so far about the upcoming Exciting Times series.
What is Exciting Times about?
From what we know about the plotline so far, the series will follow protagonist, Ava; who is an Irish transplant abroad teaching English grammar to wealthy children. But what is the point in moving abroad if you don't find love along the way? In Ava's case, she finds herself entangled in an unexpected love triangle with banker Julian and lawyer Edith. Having been described as "bracingly brilliant, funny, and honest", the series is already giving us major Sally Rooney vibes. Which, we are totally here for, of course.
Has anyone else been cast in the series?
So far, only Dynevor has been confirmed to star in Exciting Times; and as you have probably put together, she will most likely play Ava. As for who will star alongside her, time will tell.
