If you're finding yourself reading this article, then we can only assume you're one of the many people worldwide (whether you're admitting it, or not), who have sunk their teeth into the sugary and highly controversial Netflix series that is Emily in Paris. Following the experiences of American marketing executive, Emily Cooper, as she moves to – you guessed it – Paris, to join luxury firm Savoir; those of us who have accepted our love for the show are waiting eagerly for news of a season 2.
Now, the news we've all been waiting for has been confirmed. Emily in Paris has been confirmed for a second season, and we might just have to book a (future) trip to Paris to celebrate. The announcement that Netflix's wildly popular show would be picked up for a second season came less than two months since the show hit our screens late last year, confirming its success.
Naturally, the cast shared the news with fans in the form of a fictional letter from Emily's boss Sylvie – what could be more Emily in Paris than that?

While we wait in anticipation for the December 22, 2021 release date, we've rounded up everything we know so far about the hit-series' second season – spoilers included.
When can we expect a season 2?
The first official trailer for Emily in Paris season 2 is filled with so many clues of what's to come. The first, and most obvious observation is the Emily is no longer in Paris – but rather, holidaying in the south of France. Speaking to Vanity Fair, show creator Darren Star revealed, “we took over what is probably one of the most glamorous places in the world, the Four Seasons’ Cap Ferrat hotel, where we were staying and filming."
Once again, this show hits us with more unrealistic expectations of what a 20-something marketing exec can actually afford. But we've made it this far, so I guess we're past caring.
The other narrative that seems to be exempt from the Emily in Paris universe is Coronavirus – our girl is out in St Tropez partying with her best friends Mindy and Camille with no mask in site, and honestly, we're jealous. According to Star, “In the timeline of the show, it just hasn’t happened yet.” If only...
There has also been mention that season 2 will have regular flashbacks to Emily's childhood; giving the series more opportunity to establish her personality outside of her Parisian persona. During an interview with Deadline, Collins shared, “Now that we’ve seen her with all these ‘Parisisms,’ maybe we get to a bit more of her backstory, and experience that with some of the other characters.”
Across various interviews, different members of the cast have also implied that the second season will offer a new-found maturity that Emily was criticised for lacking in season 1. How this will present itself, we're not quite sure – but we'll welcome it.

What will happen to Emily and Camille's friendship?
Her first real French BFF, Camille and Emily's friendship goes from strength to strength – that is, before the American realises she has feelings for her boyfriend, Gabriel. When speaking to Collider, actress Camille Razat shared that her character Camille will probably be more upset with Emily than Gabriel once she discovers their affair, "because she was so nice to her, and she just welcomed her. And in that matter, I think Camille will be mad for a little amount of time, but she really loves Emily."
"So she’s just going to, as an adult, just discuss that with her, and try to understand why they did this. And how are they going to manage this? Because obviously, I think Camille, anyways, wants to stay friends with Emily."

Although initially, Emily and Camille's relationship seems platonic, several fans have pointed out that there might be a big part of the story we could be missing. Lucas Bravo, the actor behind Gabriel hints at this theory, sharing with People, “Camille, when she kisses Emily on the mouth, and she’s like, ‘I’m not sorry.’ And then when they're in bed, and I'm liking the picture, it's all little seeds. “Anything could happen between the three of them. I think Darren wants this second season to be really open-minded.”
Will Emily choose Gabriel or Mathieu?
At the end of the season finale, we left our girl Emily in quite the dilemma – with a looming decision on her hands to choose between her neighbour and secret love interest, Gabriel, or her boyfriend Mathieu. While we all have differing opinions on her decision, there's no denying that Emily's situation is one we never want to be faced with. As it turns out, the show's cast and creators tend to agree.

"[Emily is going] to have a lot of complicated choices with a lot of the men in her life. Certainly with Gabriel, who’s been the primary relationship, but also her primary relationship is also with Camille, who she really became very good friends with — and I think Emily’s the kind of girl that would never want to betray a friend. So I think it’s given Emily a real moral dilemma," Star revealed to Collider.
"We haven’t really seen the potential of [Emily and Mathieu's] relationship yet. I think Emily’s is going to have some surprising choices to make next season."
What kind of fashion can we expect from Emily? Here's our first look
What would Emily in Paris be without outrageous outfits? While we have seen some (minimal) improvements in her style, Emily is still testing us with her questionable choices – as is Mindy. But thankfully, Camille is still pulling us through; evidenced by this white blazer and loafer situation. Click through for some insight of what we can expect from season 2's sartorial moments.

Will there be a new love interest?
As reported by Deadline, Lucien Laviscount will play alongside the recurring cast as Alfie, a Londoner who “refuses to speak French, or immerse himself in French culture.”
Just what we were pining for, another insufferable foreigner to dampen the charm of the French, only this time embodied as a finance bro who works for an English bank who “unlike Emily, he works to live, not lives to work. He’d prefer to be playing football or having a pint with the lads in an English-speaking pub.” Magnifique.
Jeremy O. Harris will join the cast
In somewhat left-of-centre news (what's new in Darren Star's world?) Netflix has announced that Jeremy O. Harris will guest star as an “iconic fashion designer,”. Harris told Interview Magazine earlier this year: “The thing about Emily in Paris is that it’s not good. It’s not bad. It’s Emily in Paris. You just have to accept that, the same way that Sex and the City wasn’t good or bad, it was Sex and the City.”
Alongside Harris, Arnaud Binard will join the cast as a guest star, taking on the role of “the party boy owner of a popular Saint Tropez nightclub.”
When will Emily in Paris season 2 premiere?
During Netflix's first-ever global fan event, TUDUM, the cast confirmed that the series will be returning before the end of the year, arriving on December 22.
