Dyson has revealed a new beauty launch, and it’s not a hair tool

Dyson Beauty, creators of the Supersonic, Airwrap and Airstrait, have made a bold move, launching a series of topical haircare products called Dyson Chitosan.

The haircare-meets-styling line includes a Pre-Style Cream and Post-Style Serum. The Pre-Style Cream specifically comes in four iterations, depending on your hair type, texture and desired level of moisture.

The products were announced last night, and are designed to be used alongside the brand's styling tools. Like everything that comes from Dyson, Chitosan is the product of a lot of research, expertly formulated to improve hair health, style longevity, and flexible hold. It's an unexpected but exciting launch, but one Dyson is confident will make the at-home styling experience even smoother.

What is Chitosan?

Chitosan is the the hero ingredient in each formula. The molecule is originally found in shellfish, but in a very cool industry first, Dyson has found a way to extract it from oyster mushrooms. It's like a polymer that ensures a flexible structure, giving you a long-lasting style without crunch or weight.

How do I use the Chitosan products with my Dyson tools?

The two formulas are designed to be used before and after styling. The Pre-Style Cream can be applied to damp hair to prime, condition and create hold. It comes in four varieties: Light Conditioning or Rich conditioning for Straight-to-Wavy or Curly-to-Coily.

 

The Post-Style Serum is a universal formula that provides further hold, shine and hydration. It's best applied to dry hair. Simply warm or 'sheer' it in your hands, and work through the hair, concentrating on the mid-lengths and ends.

 

How much do the Dyson Chitosan products cost?

Each 100ml bottle sells for $89, while refills are $79.

When does Dyson Chitosan launch?

The products will be available from August 23rd online, in Dyson retail stores and through selected retail partners.
