In a stopover to Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers have something new up their sleeve.

It still sits entirely in the realm of horror and thriller, and is just one of many of the gory ventures that they're currently working on. With a Stranger Things spinoff and a live-action Death Note confirmed to be in the works, it's a shocker they haven't tired of the genre and come out with something with a bite more of a whiplash element. Say, perhaps even taking on the Twilight series, anyone?

But it's undeniable – the Duffer Brothers are at the height of their horror game. As confirmed by Netflix, the latest addition to their family, Something Really Bad is Going to Happen might be their funniest, most acerbic take yet. While the details are scant, we've done the work of rounding up all there is to know so far about the latest series green-lit by Netflix.

 

What is the series about?

The series is a situational horror that takes place during the big day of an unassuming bride and groom. As the days pass in the lead-up to their nuptials, tragedy and fear strikes. And this is, of course, not a spoiler by any means. Just take a look at the title.

 

Who is involved?

Writer Hayley Z. Boston is responsible for penning the script. Holding the story in high regard, the Duffer Brothers were enthused, saying: “We were knocked flat when we first read Haley’s script. She is a major new talent with a singular voice — her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just… very Haley. We feel so lucky to be producing her first show, and we can’t wait to share her vision with the rest of the world.”

Boston created the series and also serves as executive producer and show runner. The Duffers and Hilary Leavitt will executive produce through Upside Down Pictures. In addition, Andrea Sperling will also executive produce.

 

Who is in the cast?

Everything is still shrouded in mystery. We don't know who will star, but in the time being, not much else has been revealed. We'll get cracking when that changes.

 

When will it be released?

It's too early to tell at this point when Something Really Bad is Going to Happen will be available to stream on Netflix. But we'll keep you updated as we know more.
