One thing to know about us is that if you give us the nepotism baby of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke and put her in a sapphic role in one of the biggest TV shows on Netflix, we're going to simp. Now, Maya Hawke is taking on another role in the Netflix universe, having reportedly secured a lead role alongside Camila Mendes in a new Netflix dark comedy entitled Do Revenge, which is scheduled to release later this year.
Directed by the same name behind Someone Great, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson's Do Revenge is reportedly based on "a clandestine meet-cute [where] Drea (Alpha, fallen it girl) and Eleanor (beta, new alt girl) team up to go after each other’s tormentors,” according to the Netflix synopsis. “Do Revenge is a subverted Hitchock-ian dark comedy featuring the scariest protagonists of all: teenage girls.” Sounds like My Chemical Romance's Teenagers never really left some of us!
Mendes' character is of a popular girl named Drea, who wants revenge on her ex-boyfriend Max (played by Austin Abrams) after he leaks their sex tape. Hawke plays a transfer student called Eleanor, who was outed by a cruel rumour started by an unnamed girl who claimed Eleanor tried to pin her down and kiss her.
Mendes has shared her excitement for the September release via Instagram, with a caption reading: “do revenge, out September 16th on @netflix. ‘whatever you think this movie is, it’s that, but it’s also different.’ – flawless description by @jennkaytin.”

There is no trailer for the teen film as yet, but Do Revenge will be available to stream on Netflix on September 16, 2022. Robinson, will produce the film alongside Anthony Bregman, Likely Story, and Peter Cron, with Joshua Bachove as executive producer. In addition, the soundtrack comes from Este Haim and composer Amanda Yamate.
As far as further details are concerned, you'll have to stay tuned for updates.
