There has always been something enchanting about a dollhouse, in all its miniature renditions of everyday life objects and memories. Following on from its hauntingly fairytale that was its AW 21 showcase, Disturbing Beauty, Dior bewitch us once again, this time with an exclusive Savoir-Faire into the making of a majestic haute couture trunk, a replica of Dior's renown 30 Avenue Montaigne townhouse.
Hand painted, bolted, cut and finished, the Savoir-Faire raptures us on a journey of the trunk in its making from its exceptional craftsmanship to its meticulous artistry. Evocative of the Maison's codes in couture, the pinewood trunk is lined with cotton and linen, a subtle homage to the white toiles used in part of the house's haute couture creations and atelier. Then, we witness the breathtaking unfolding of a hand painted canvas that is cut, measured and smoothed out to finite detail, all to wrap up its completion in hand punctuated leather, detailed and finished in Dior brass hardware.
Dior's exceptionally crafted trunk opens for its finale, only to reveal couture dresses fit for doll royalty. With miniature renderings of Dior's Autumn Winter 2021 haute couture dresses, according to a recent press release the iconic haute couture trunk is "made with exceptional craftsmanship [and] this sumptuous piece reveals silhouettes as delicate as they are majestic, like a collection of so many dreams."
Following on from the house's other intimate Savoir-Faire, including Monsieur Dior's Bar Jacket, Dior's Lady D-Lite Velvet bag and the making of Victoire de Castellane's Gem Dior, Dior have never been one to shy away from opening its doors and revealing the Maison's charms to admirers and enthusiasts alike.
