Dior's Pre Fall 23 collection merges heritages and fashion histories, reigniting a sartorial conversation between France and India – one that dates back to the 1960s for the French fashion House, when its then-creative director Marc Bohan made his first trip to the country stopping at Mumbai and Delhi. Emphasising timeless House motifs with distinct, kaleidoscopic colour palettes, Toile de Jouy fabric, and straight silhouettes of sari-like skirts and dresses, the collection makes for an intriguing and symbiotic trio of culture, code and cut.
Lensed by Sam Armstrong and styled by Hannah Cooper, model Sheila Bawar dances between light and shade for our May Tempo issue, donning the collection in a series of monochromatic images that play with silhouette and motion, an overture to the real and lasting relationship blossoming between Dior and India, and an ode to the peripatetic.
