A masterclass in couture. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the house of Dior, the National Gallery of Victoria is unveiling the never-before-seen exhibition The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture. The exhibition is a unique collaboration between the French maison and the NGV, and will showcase over 140 garments spanning the 1947 Dior archives through to 2017. Not-to-be-missed moments include Christian Dior’s iconic Spring 1947 'New Look' collection, red carpet gowns and pieces from each of the six successive head designers appointed following Dior's death in 1957 - Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and the brand's first female designer Maria Grazia Chiuri. The display will also feature accessories, sketches, photographs, haute couture prototypes and multimedia. The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture will be on display from August 27 through November 7.
