If you had any doubt of Jenna Ortega's range, her new film will convince you otherwise. In A24's newest dark comedy, Death Of A Unicorn, the 22-year-old encounters an actual unicorn — but it's nothing like any fantasy film you've seen before. And she's not alone: in the newly-released trailer for the film (which is pure chaos, if you ask us), Ortega is joined by an absolutely stacked cast, from Paul Rudd to Will Poulter. Get acquainted with the truly bizarre trailer, plus all the important details, below.

What is Death Of A Unicorn actually about?
Take a seat, because the synopsis for this one is as chaotic as it sounds. The film's official description reads: “A father (played by Rudd) and daughter (played by Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (played by Richard E. Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.”
Judging by the trailer, Ortega's character forms a connection with the unicorn, and will have quite the task ahead of her getting the others to share her perspective.
Also cast is Will Poulter, whose role is so-far unconfirmed, but appears to be as the entitled son of Grant's character. It's the second A24 film for Poulter in 2025, with war drama Warfare also slated for release.
Téa Leoni is also on board, and looks likely to play Poulter's mother.
Who else is involved in Death Of A Unicorn?
Casting aside, the film marks Alex Scharfman’s debut as a director. He's also serving as a producer for the project, alongside Lucas Joaquin, Tyler Campellone, Drew Houpt, Lars Knudsen, Tim Headington and Theresa Steele Page.
When will Death Of A Unicorn be released?
Prepare for your excitement levels to reach an all-time high, because A24 have slated the film for release in Spring, 2025.
