Imagine a world where two Rachel Weisz's exist. Sounds like heaven, right? Wrong. In the trailer for a new series adaptation of David Cronenberg's cult classic thriller Dead Ringers, we meet the Mantle twins, a double act played by Weisz. They're gynaecologists with grand plans to reinvent the way women give birth, and if you've ever laid eyes on the original, you'll know it can only end in tragedy. Below, watch the trailer and read all we know about the latest remake of Dead Ringers.
What is Dead Ringers about?
The current logline for the forthcoming series closely follows the original 1988 thriller starring Jeremy Irons. The premise is the same: you have two twins, Dr. Elliot and Beverly Mantle, who share everything; a home, drugs, even lovers, and the desire to advance the science of women's health and giving birth even if it's achieved through the most unethical means. For one, no one has any inkling that the Mantle twins exist, which leads to some questionable practices. All of this is turned on its head however, when another woman enters the picture.
Who else is involved?
As mentioned, Rachel Weisz is perched in the duplicate leading roles. Joining her? You have Michael Chernus from Severance and Netflix series Easy, as the character Tom. Also onboard Dead Ringers is Poppy Liu from Hacks as Greta, Canadian actress Britne Oldford, the inimitable Jennifer Ehle from Pride and Prejudice and She Said, as well as Jeremy Shamos and Emily Meade. However, their part in all of this remains to be seen.
Do we have a release date?
