5 designers you should know about at Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25

The Danish fashion scene has quickly become one of the most interesting pockets of the fashion industry. The street style is off-chops, and the designers are booming (hello Ganni). It's a mecca for puff sleeves, athleisure, coquette, sneakers, loungewear and graphic prints – and Copenhagen Fashion Week is now a hot ticket on any fashion industry insider's list.

This year, Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25 will run from 5–9 August 2024. As we fast approach Copenhagen Fashion Week for SS25, we thought we'd break down some of the key designers and ateliers we think you should know about that are leading the schedule this year. 1. OpéraSport

OpéraSport

OpéraSport are opening Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25 with their show on Monday 5 August. Founded in 2019 by creative consultant and stylist Stephanie Gundelach and design and production expert Awa Malina Stelter, the brand blends Parisian elegance with Copenhagen’s sporty edge. This fusion results in timeless pieces that are both sophisticated and sporty, luxurious yet affordable, and sustainable while remaining stylish.

The brand's commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of recycled and organic fabrics and its production practices that align with demand. OpéraSPORT aims to create responsible, high-quality clothing that does not sacrifice design or aesthetics.

 

2. Nicklas Skovgaard

Nicklas Skovgaard

Nicklas Skovgaard's luxury womenswear brand, founded in 2020 in Copenhagen, is renowned for its thoughtful approach and enchanting use of unexpected material combinations with classic forms. Skovgaard creates unique textiles by hand, mastering weaving to craft distinctive pieces like jackets and capelets. His designs, inspired by baroque portraiture, Madonna’s music videos, and personal memories, blend contrasting fabrics into visually captivating silhouettes. Producing two collections annually, the brand continuously evolves, balancing romanticism and realism through its innovative textiles and recognisable designs.

 

3. Deadwood

Deadwood

Deadwood Studios was founded in 2012 by Carl Ollson and Felix von Bahder, two friends who met while working at a denim shop in Stockholm. What began between them a curated vintage store, soon became a fully-fledged design studio dedicated to sustainable and ethical fashion. With a vision for 80% of their materials to be recycled or up-cycled, the remaining 20% of garments are chosen for their clear environmental or ethical benefits, like plant-based leather alternatives. Each garment crafted by Deadwood Studios tells a unique story, reflecting their commitment to sustainability and high-quality design.

 

4. Rotate

Rotate

Originally launched as an influencer-led capsule collection between 150-year-old Danish retailer Birger Christensen and fashion influencers Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimarsdotti, Rotate (founded in 2018) has since matured into its own. It's now scaled to sell in 40 countries, and has become known for their sparkly mini dresses and bold, glamorous party designs.

 

5. A. Roege Hove

A. Roege Hove

A. Roege Hove was founded by Amalie Røge Hove in 2019, and is best known for its innovative knitwear designs. The brand, based in Copenhagen, specialises in creating unique, sculptural pieces that blend traditional knitting techniques with contemporary aesthetics, and their collections often feature bold textures, asymmetrical lines, and a minimalist colour palette. The label's commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability has garnered attention within the fashion industry, making it a standout in modern knitwear.
