If there's one thing history has taught us, it's that the girlies go absolutely rabid for Sally Rooney. After all, she is the architect of some of literature's steamiest smut. But the only thing better than sexy novels that overstimulate our imaginations are TV series that require no imagination at all — just a willing horny mind. It is, as we know, a tried and tested formula. So if you found yourself pining after Connell's chain in Normal People, you need only hold out a little while longer. We've just laid eyes upon the full length trailer for Conversations with Friends and the release date couldn't come any faster.
Remember that love quadrangle at the centre of Conversations with Friends? Well, it's only gained texture in the newly released trailer. With Alison Oliver as Frances, Sasha Lane playing Bobbi, the inimitable Jemima Kirke onboard as Melissa and floppy-haired labrador, Joe Alwyn starring at Nick, it's unclear if this foursome is the stuff of dreams or overwhelming confusion for a little bisexual like me. Either way, I'm chomping at the bit to see these entangled love lives play out and I know I'm not alone.
Already we can draw parallels between the achingly drawn out, tender acting that brought us to tears in Normal People and what little we've observed in the Conversations with Friends trailer. Add on the fact that Phoebe Bridgers is rumoured to feature on the soundtrack and you've got the perfect recipe for another emotional romp through love and dating in the modern world.
Arriving in 12 parts, you can submerge yourself in the Conversations with Friends television series upon its Australian release on May 16 via Prime Video.
