When It-girl of the entire world, cult actor Chloë Sevigny was 20 years old, she was cast in Sonic Youth's Sugar Kane music video, which was shot at Marc Jacobs showroom at Perry Ellis. Since then, the moment sparked a long and fruitful relationship between Sevigny and the designer, which has just come full circle for Marc Jacobs' Resort 2021 campaign, where the cult actor took siege of the Marc Jacobs HQ.
For the campaign, lensed by Haley Wollens, Sevigny clambers onto meeting tables, balances over piles of shoe boxes, is pictured having a field day in the mannequin closet, and artfully posing in the foyer. She heroes stacked platform boots, purple shearling jackets, shearling-trimmed tote bags, silk halter necks, and branded hoodies and baby tees. It is both satirical and artfully hot, with Sevigny posing as though she is in a 90s editorial or - better yet - one of those overt Top Model photoshoots where they are forced to adopt "strong" poses in the name of luxury. What a throwback!

The collection takes on the same attitude, overt, but cool. In classic Marc Jacobs fashion, there is an air of fun about the whole thing while still making the collection feel legitimately wearable, like the ironic branded baby tee or the oil-black PVC pleather jeans. As with everything she touches, Sevigny masterfully reinvigorates the MJ brand in a way that makes us want to own a pair of stacked platform boots immediately.
Let the Chloë Sevigny supremacy reign! What would you do if she invaded your office next?
