Fashion has always held its charm in the way it keeps a good secret. Whether it's Paris, Milan, London or New York, every season we see fashion houses work away in its mystery, quietly scheming away at next seasons brilliance. From atelier Savoir-Fare's to behind the scenes runway photos, it can be said that nothing is more captivating than an inside look into something confidential. As the world sits in anticipation for the next instalment of events, Chanel release its first show teaser with the unveiling of its Cruise 2021/22 mood board.
Tuesday May 4th, 6pm Paris time is the date to pencil in and save. Following the announcement of its Cruise 21/22 show at the Carrières de Lumières (called Quarries of Light) in the small town of Les Baux-de-Provence, the show teaser doubles as a invite, transporting us to the floral fields of the French countryside with lavender stems and freshly picked flowers strewn across the screen. Images of renown French poet Jean Cocteau's 1960's film Testament of Orpheus are scrapbooked against the beautifully sprawled handwriting of Cocteau's letters to Mademoiselle Gabrielle Chanel, the teaser video exhibiting the unspoken intimacy between Cocteau and Chanel, ethereally highlighting and documenting their close friendship.
Following on from its photo campaign of the iconic Chanel 11.12 bag, the teaser again, works alongside Dutch fashion photographer duo Inez & Vinoodh in capturing the scrapbooking of moments through photos of the Carrières de Lumières and different florals from Provence. The long anticipated Chanel Cruise 2021/22 collection show by french fashion designer and creative director Virginie Viard will make its mark worldwide with its unveiling on Tuesday May 4th, 6pm Paris time on chanel.com. The teaser leaves it brief but beautiful as Chanel drops its love note and leaves us gassed in mystery and guessing for more.
