She is a superstar: Introducing the Chanel Factory 5 collection

Chanel Factory 5

In collaboration with Chanel

When Coco Chanel created Chanel N°5 in 1921, it was with the intention to design "A woman's perfume with the scent of a woman." traditional codes of perfumery, broken, and an olfactory revolution was born. The fragrance with a name like a code emerged, and 100 years later, Factory 5 is introduced.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary for the 5th time, Chanel ushers in a collection rooted in modern life, for the everyday, the transformative, the playful. Factory 5 is here. A limited edition capsule of 17 products that use N° 5 as its hero ingredient. With each product inspired by everyday objects, the iconic fragrance transcends the codes of tradition and welcomes a modern approach to the N°5 woman.

To celebrate the collection, RUSSH collaborated with Chanel to create a film that speaks to the nature of the collection: Bold, playful, and experimental. With the energy of Warhol's famed factory in mind, model and musician Maina Doe is a superstar. Screen tests, scenes of creativity, and playful moments are cut together. A time in the 60s we will never get back, a time of revolution, invention, and celebrity, mirroring the sentiment of Chanel N°5. There was an energy that radiates through snippets of that time, captured on Warhols 16mm super 8 camera, the human condition, riding on the adrenaline of being in the thick of disruption, laid bare for us to witness.

Doe feels like our modern Warhol girl. A model and musician - born to perform - her energy makes you want to cross the room to strike up a conversation before you've figured out what to say yet. We first noticed her at the Chanel N°5 dinner celebrating 100 years of celebrity in May. That smile across the table and then her dancing, hand in hand with Genesis Owusu. Here, she brings it all again, wearing looks from Chanel's Métiers d’art 2020/21 collection, a make up look by Chanel Makeup Artist Victoria Baron, inspired by notes of the 60s catapulted into modernity, and the Factory 5 collection. On the legs, N°5 The Body Creme and N°5 The Body Oil, on the hands, N°5 On Hand Creme, on the décolleté, N°5 Eau De Parfum Spray.
