Today, Chanel announces the Cometes Collective, a group of emerging makeup artists that the brand has formed a partnership with for the Chanel Makeup Creation Studio, with an aim to bring a collective with varied points of view to the forefront.
Opening a new realm of possibility for the Chanel Makeup Creation Studio, the brand is working alongside the rising stars to expand Chanel's palette of colours and shades, reinterpret icons, and reinvent the House's creative language with their own, which speak to myriad of experiences and creative expressions as artists.
Ammy Drammeh, Cécile Paravina, and Valentina Li are the first artists to join the Cometes Collective, chosen for their singular visions of beauty as well as their natural alignment with the House of Chanel. Together with their unique visions , each artist will author their own seasonal collections while working together on shared releases. “Together, they will add a pioneering new chapter to the House’s tradition of exploring the way women see themselves.” The first Cometes Collective collections will launch in January 2024.
Ammy Drammeh's work has been featured in many publications, alongside campaigns for luxury Houses over the years, with a focus on colour and otherworldly themes. Li has long been known for her graphic and edgy take on makeup, while Paravina is best known for looks she does on herself, which are often experimental and ethereal.
The three artists are set to follow in the footsteps of Lucia Pica who has now moved on to Byredo, and Peter Phillips who is now at Dior.
"The House is proud to partner with these artists, the deserving recipients of international acclaim for their creativity, their expertise, and their free and authentic visions of beauty. With the support of the Chanel Makeup Creation Studio, they will contribute to the development of new collections and imagine inspiring content for Chanel makeup lovers." The brand noted.
