The concepts of fashion and celebrity have been increasingly overlapped for a while now – its not new to see your favourite actor or singer front campaigns for major fashion houses. We all remember Nicole Kidman's Chanel No.5 advertisement. To many, the angelic face of Charlize Theron is practically synonymous with that of Dior.
But in the last couple of years, it's become a given that your favourite celebrity, K-Pop or TikTok star would be snapped up by a luxury brand – think London's Tube Girl for Valentino, or Felix from Stray Kids at Louis Vuitton. This Spring Summer fashion month, we've seen an onslaught of celebrities that have moved beyond the front row, who are now making cameos on the runways themselves.
We thought we'd give you the low-down on some of our favourite celebrity runway cameos from this season's Paris, London, Milan and New York fashion weeks.
Troye Sivan and Petra Collins for Miu Miu
It's not the first time Miu Miu has put one of their famous friends on the runway – Mia Goth and Emma Corrin have both strutted their stuff for the House in seasons past. However, we were pretty stoked to see director and photographer Petra Collins walk the show, and Australian golden boy Troye Sivan make his runway debut.
Paris Hilton and Angela Bassett for Mugler
Mugler's dramatic SS24 show featured Oscar nominated Angela Bassett in a billowing black gown, and Y2K It Girl and icon, Paris Hilton in a corseted black mini. Hilton has become a bit of a runway favourite, having also closed Versace's show last year.
Kim Kardashian and Diane Pernet at Balenciaga
Balenciaga's SS24 runway was another star-studded affair, tapping the shoulder of long-time friend of the brand Kim Kardashian, and pioneering Paris-based blogger Diane Pernet to walk alongside an eclectic cast of models that included creative director Demna's own mother, who opened the show.
Hari Nef and Waris Ahluwalia for Collina Strada
Collina Strada's SS24 runway show at NYFW this month was opened by Barbie actress Hari Nef, and also featured Indian-American designer and actor Waris Ahluwalia.
