RUSSH round-up: featuring cargo pants and Timothée Chalamet

We're here for the Venice Film Festival red carpet and Paco Rabanne statement earrings - this is all the RUSSH team is loving this week.

Ellen Presbury

Market & Beauty Director

I am always on the hunt for a good pair of pants, and my latest obsession is the perfect utility pant (or, if I am being honest, I want cargo pants). Something about them feels like the perfect balance of practical, early 00s and modern and also ... pockets. Whilst the dream Bottega Veneta leather shorts will never be a reality, I have keeping my eye on Colovos (apparently coming out next season), Studio Nicholson (men’s, but I want all the same), Isabel Marant and J.W.Anderson (on sale!), as well as Acne Studios and Ulla Johnson.

Before we hit the harsh summer months and skincare becomes all about protection, a peel can refresh and restart our skin’s cellular turnover. Skin Boost clinic offers a specialised SkinCeuticals treatment menu. First  you’ll undergo a skin analysis then discuss target treatment options targeted to your skin condition. The SkinCeuticals range (read: C E Ferulic serum) are so coveted, back door deals amongst beauty editors trading the hero product have been known to take place. So here you’ll know your skin is getting treated to the best of the best. Down time is none, and glowing skin is right around the corner.

Spotify’s Crush playlist is great – a top tier song compilation. It kicks off with RUSSH’s resident crush Genesis Owusu’s new track Good Times, and follows with a strategic blend of Sampa the Great, Blood Orange, Joji and Jorja Smith. Play on repeat.

At the top my current list of obsessions lies the holy grail of hand creams (I’m serious), L’Occitane’s Amande Mains a Croquer. Gabriela introduced me to it, and bought me my own tube for my birthday (Gabby, thank you). It smells like almonds and summer and happiness, and makes me feel like my life is very put together, even on days when I’ve lost all my pens and/or my mind.

At the recommendation of Ilkin Kurt I'm staring Ways of Seeing by John Berger. I've heard nothing but good things and will update you on my progress.

Vintage fashion is the future, and the most sustainable way of shopping. It also leaves me feeling a little less guilty for purchasing something that is not necessarily new, but new to me and my wardrobe. The added value also comes from having a piece that is essentially unique and really well crafted. Online store Olivia Lila Lahood provides just that - a perfectly curated selection of sophisticated vintage fashion goods. My top picks are the men’s oversized jacket and delicate lace dress. A perfect combination.

I also can’t go past Timothée Chalamet walking the red carpet at the 76th Venice Film Festival. While promoting his film The King, my boy Chalamet wore a silver-grey Haider Ackermann SS 20 suit with a belted waist, rolled up pants and black cowboy boots. I mean ...

I’ve recently discovered the photography work of Dafydd Jones who covered celebrity and society events for Vanity Fair in the 1980s and 90s. He photographed balls, debutante dances, weddings and events during a time when everything was so superbly glamorous, making me long for an era when ‘casual’ was virtually frowned upon and glomesh was king. Think bursting bottles of champagne, layers of tulle, sequins, stilettos on tabletops, midnight kisses and mid-party catnaps captured on film. They definitely don’t make them like that anymore.
