When we heard the news that our favourite foursome behind K-Pop powerhouse BLACKPINK were coming out with new music, we didn't expect to hear it so soon. While the second album from Rosé, Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa is set to drop sometime towards the end of the year, if you're a regular on PUBG Mobile, you may not have to wait that long.
Announced yesterday, YG Entertainment confirmed that BLACKPINK is set to perform at PUBG: Battlegrounds' upcoming in-game virtual concert, simply titled 'The Virtual'. Taking place in two parts, from July 23 to 24 and July 30 to 31 (for those in Australia), the quartet will perform their biggest hits alongside one yet-to-be-released track from their forthcoming, and so far untitled, album.
This is the second time BLACKPINK has teamed up with PUBG Mobile, the first dating back to 2020 when the K-Pop group released their first record THE ALBUM and the mobile game played it as background music while its players were in the lobby.
Speaking on the collaboration, YG Entertainment said it is "pleased to hold an In-Game Concert as the second collaboration between the world’s best group BLACKPINK and PUBG Mobile, the best mobile game in the battle royale genre. We also hope to increase the opportunity for artists and fans to interact closely beyond the borders and language barriers."
On top of hearing fresh music from all four band members of BLACKPINK, gamers will also have the opportunity to get their hands of custom made performance suits, the same ones that Rosé, Jisoo, Lisa and Jennie's avatars will be wearing during the concert.
The concert arrives in tandem with the latest Version 2.1 update of PUBG: Battlegrounds, which features a new themed game mode entitled, Ancient Secret: Arise.
The latest version of PUBG Mobile is available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. If you're looking to attend, you can secure your free ticket from July 15. Happy gaming BLINKs!
