It's no secret that here at RUSSH, we consider ourselves as pretty big and loyal fans of BLACKPINK. The dynamic group are undeniably K-Pop royalty; from their unbeatable hits to their enviable sartorial choices, they can truly do no wrong. Over the years, we've watched and cheered along with every new song release, brand partnership and of course, as the likes of Rosé and (potentially) Lisa made their solo debuts. In fact, we've been so caught-up in the thrill of it all; that it took us by surprise to be reminded that that these megastars are about to hit a major milestone. Yes, BLACKPINK is about to celebrate its five year anniversary.
It might be hard to believe, but BLACKPINK released their debut single album, Square One, back on August 8, 2016. If like us, this important celebration had also skipped your mind, we thankfully have the official BLACKPINK Twitter account to hold us accountable. On June 15, YG Entertainment (the agency that supports the group), released a minimalistic teaser poster on the platform. Naturally, the ominous graphic for what is sure to be a monumental five year anniversary celebration has been illustrated in the signature BLACKPINK colour way, (black and pink, obviously), with the words '4+1 PROJECT' placed in the centre.

After leaving fans in suspense for a little over 24 hours, YG Entertainment have finally spilled the beans on what we can expect from this anniversary celebration and it's better than we could have ever expected. BLACKPINK is releasing a movie – yes, a movie. Fittingly titled BLACKPINK THE MOVIE, the film will be released on that seminal August 8th date and is said to feature some of the group's most special and intimate moments, as well as unreleased interviews and images.
We also know that the film will release re-edited footage of BLACKPINK’s THE SHOW and IN YOUR AREA concerts as part of the 5 year anniversary celebration. Which, for those of us who couldn't join the tour, will be a very welcome treat.
Thankfully, August is not too far away; so we won't have to wait too much longer. Certainly, this is going to be a five year anniversary celebration to remember.
