Velvet nights. Bill Henson has a way with light, with the manipulation of shadow and the ambiguity of landscapes. He takes the ordinary and makes it ethereal through his lens - a master of the dark arts and the avid documenter of the human condition for the last 40 years.
As part of the National Gallery of Victoria's 2017 Festival of Photography, Bill Henson will showcase a self-titled exhibition drawn from his body of works captured between 2008 and 2011. The photographs, selected by Henson himself, traverse key themes in the artist's oeuvre, including portraiture, nudes, landscapes, sculpture and museum interiors. Bill Henson will run at the NGV from March 10 to August 27.
