The future of music. Celebrating its sixteenth year, Australia's answer to SXSW, Bigsound returns to Brisbane's Fortitude Valley for four days of live music, industry talks, parties and masterclasses. Kicking off September 5, the Festival takes over 18 of the region's bars, clubs and outdoor stages to offer audiences performances from over 130 of the country's best emerging talent, including Winston Surfshirt, Joyride, Alex The Astronaut and Ruby Fields, as well as Hockey Dad and The Creases.
A host of industry heavyweights and thinkers will also come together to lead talks and workshops across the four days on topics including race, gender, identity, technology and touring in music. If small-scale is more your style, there's also a range of unofficial fringe events and parties happening around Brisbane during the festival with showcases from leading record labels dotted around the city.
