Spotlighting the masters behind the best-dressed celebs

celebrity stylists

Once upon a time, the role of the celebrity stylist was entirely behind the scenes. Whether for a red carpet or a casual (read: planned) street style moment, we were rarely given a look at the stylists working tirelessly to ensure their celebrity clientele looked on point for the occasion. But in 2024, these creative minds are finally getting their flowers – and for good reason.

Take Saoirse Ronan. Just last month, the Irish actress turned out a series of seriously stellar looks, making countless headlines and, likely earning a spot in just about everyone’s Instagram ‘saved’ folder in the process. And while we’d love to hand all the credit to Ronan, in large part, this sartorial glow up was the result of enlisting a new stylist. Danielle Goldberg partnered with Ronan to promote her new film Blitz, and put together some of the most memorable fashion moments in recent history.

So in honour of this to-die-for partnership, we’re spotlighting the fashionable masterminds behind the best-dressed celebs, below.

  • Sabrina Carpenter
  • Rachel Sennot
  • Molly Gordon

If you ever doubted Jared Ellner's range, think again. In addition to being the stylist to Sabrina Carpenter (namely, her Short n' Sweet era) and Emma Chamberlain, Ellner has now forayed into design, with the launch of his namesake label. He introduced the line — which is now available to shop online — via a series of impeccable campaign images (starring Chamberlain, naturally). Speaking to WWD about the career move, Ellner said, "Styling is something that I sort of stumbled into and never really expected. I truly don’t know where I would be without it. It has completely changed my life, and I think I will never not be a stylist. I’ve fallen in love with it so deeply. But my first passion was becoming a designer and that was always the driving force for my passion in this industry.”

If you're a young, cool celebrity, you want Danielle Goldberg on your team. Having started her career in fashion media as a stylist for titles like Vogue and T: The New York Times Style Magazine, Goldberg branched into the world of celebrities when she dressed Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen for the 2009 Met Gala (in vintage Christian Lacroix and The Row, obviously). Since then, she's earned a reputation for partnering with It-girls on the cusp of global domination, and ensuring they have a killer wardrobe to match.

Clients:

  • Sydney Sweeney
  • Lana del Ray
  • Cami Mendes
  • Kaia Gerber
  • Sadie Sink
  • Bella Hadid
  • Ariana Greenblatt

Molly Dickson has some serious star-power on her roster.  In addition to Bella Hadid's eclectically enviable street style looks and Kaia Gerber's signature old Hollywood red carpet glam, the stylist was brought firmly to our attention when she worked with Sydney Sweeney to promote Anyone But You. The first major press moment for both Sweeney and Dickson, the two proved themselves power couple, producing custom Balmain, sheer Miu Miu, and plenty more in between.

  • Jennifer Lawrence
  • Mikey Maddison
  • Riley Keough
  • Adele
  • Nicole Richie
  • Jeremy Allen White
  • Leighton Meester

When Jennifer Lawrence re-emerged from her acting hiatus for No Hard Feelings, she had a killer new wardrobe to mark the occasion. Her secret weapon? Celebrity stylist Jamie Mizrahi. Their sartorial symbiosis resulted in a series of elegant red carpet ensembles, and plenty of effortlessly cool casual looks — both of which planted Lawrence at the forefront of the 'quiet luxury' movement. A fashionable match made in heaven, if you ask us.

Clients:

  • Zendaya

Arguably one of the best-known celebrity stylists in the game, Law Roach famously announced his retirement in 2022...Well, sort of. While he did slim down his clientele almost entirely, Roach decided to continue working with Zendaya, his longest-running client, and we're so glad he did. “So y’all really think I’m breaking up with Z…we are forever,” he tweeted at the time. Since then, the two have gone on to bless us with some of the most iconic red carpet moments of all time, including the entire Dune and Challengers press tours, as well as several Met Gala appearances.

  • Paul Mescal
  • Kit Connor
  • Ncuti Gatwa
  • Hannah Dodd

It's not all about the girls. A-list men have been having a moment in fashion recently, and it's all thanks to stylists like Felicity Kay. The UK-based stylist is responsible for putting together looks for the likes of Paul Mescal, Kit Connor, and Ncuti Gatwa, and is proving that dressing male celebrities is more than just suits and ties. At the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar's Party, for example, she sent Gatwa down the red carpet in a silver breastplate by Cameron Hancock. And more recently, she had us kicking our feet when Paul Mescal arrived for a Gladiator 2 press day in Australia, wearing a perfectly shrunken, hand-knitted cardigan.
