Awards season is starting to heat up, with the BAFTA's taking place on Sunday, where once again the best of British film basked in all its 2022 glory. In pre-pandemic fashion, the in person ceremony took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London, hosted by our very own Rebel Wilson; the event announced its winners through roving coverage on social media .
As expected, Dune dominated in the design and editing categories – capping the night off with five trophies, including, Production Design, Special Visual Effects, Cinematography, Sound and Original Score. No other film had more that two wins. Ultimately, it was The Power of the Dog, coming in on top winning best film with our Kiwi neighbour Jane Campion taking out the best director gong.

Ariana DeBose of West Side Story was dubbed best supporting actress, alongside Will Smith finally winning a Best Actor nod for his perfomance as King Richard, his first after more than five nominations across his career.
In true British fashion, The James Bond film No Time to Die, the subject of the opening number by none other than Dame Shirley Bassey (she sang “Diamonds Are Forever,” won for Tom Cross and Elliot Graham’s Editing. The film’s Lashana Lynch also won the EE Rising Star Award, a fan-voted category.
