Whether you're a sports devotee or not, you'd be hard pressed to avoid the whirlwind that is the Australian Open. Each year, tennis players from across the globe descend on Melbourne's Rod Laver arena, vying for a chance at the Grand Slam title. But alongside the players, the event has also become synonymous with street style, with onlookers making a sport of looking chic for the two weeks-long event, while also navigating Melbourne's typically sweltering climate. If you fall in the latter camp, and are planning on attending the Australian Open in 2025, you might be wondering: what exactly can I bring? Below, make sure your favourite bag meets the requirements, with everything you can (and can't) bring to this year's AO.

What can't you bring to the Australian Open in 2025?
For starters, the actual bag you bring matters. While ludicrously capacious totes are certainly having a moment, the AO restricts you from bringing "any item or bag that is too large to fit under a seat." Additionally, only one bag per person is allowed.
As for the contents of your bag, the following are not permitted:
- alcohol (that was not purchased on-site)
- tennis racquets, beach balls or other inflatable devices, frisbees, helium balloons
- camera tripods, camera lenses with a focal length capacity greater than 200mm; video cameras or handy-cams; audio recorders; and any other devices used for recording or transmitting scoring data
- eskies, hampers and large containers in excess of 1.5 litres;
- glass
- animals (other than assistance animals)
- chairs or stools
- musical instruments
- drones, flares, fireworks, firecrackers, smoke bombs and laser pointers
- bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, rollerskates
What can you bring to the Australian Open in 2025?
While, we'll admit, there are some hefty restrictions, there is still plenty you can bring along for a day of tennis-watching. The following items are permitted in your bag:
- non-alcoholic beverages or drink bottles in plastic;
- food, including baby food
- plastic or paper cutlery only
- deodorant and perfume
- medicine
- selfie sticks
- umbrellas
