Art in June: Your guide to the Australian shows and exhibitions taking place this month

australian art june 2022

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised that the following article contains the names of people who have died.

As the season changes, so too does the art. So what's on the cards for the month of June? In NSW all the spectacles are here, we're talking Rīvus the biennale and the annual Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes. Wander off the beaten path and find yourself in the midst of a few local gems, namely Sto(oo)p It at Airspace Projects in Marrickville and Tiarna Herczeg's solo show at Hake House. Plus, keep June 18 free because Incognito Art Show is back, baby!

What else is happening with Australian art in June 2022? Be sure to step in for Barring – Nganjin at Koori Heritage Trust, a group show from Stolen Generation survivors where storytelling is used as a medium for healing. Meanwhile, at Art Gallery of Western Australia the Tom Malone Prize is due to be awarded. As for the rest? You're going to have to read on to find out. Below, find a non-exhaustive guide to Australian art in June 2022.
