In honour of the fashion icon, a new Audrey Hepburn documentary is on its way

Audrey Hepburn documentary

Almost three decades since her passing, a new documentary exploring the life of one of Hollywood and fashion's biggest stars, Audrey Hepburn, is being released. Produced by the BAFTA-nominated team behind historic fashion film McQueen, AUDREY goes behind the lens, revealing the complexities of the much-loved woman behind the camera in a way we have never seen before.

The insightful feature documentary will share never-before-seen footage of Hepburn; touching on the aspects of her life not commonly discussed in the public eye. AUDREY's director, Helen Coen will explore the late-actresses most intimate moments and memories, from the lasting impacts of her father's abandonment, to the ensued trauma she experienced growing up under Nazi occupation in Holland, and her unfulfilled, lasting desire to become a professional ballet dancer.

“The film provides intimate interviews with those who knew her best, woven around rare archival footage. However, we have taken it one step further and worked with multi award- winning British choreographer, Wayne McGregor CBE, to create dance sequences inspired by Audrey’s love of ballet, building a beguiling and emotionally affecting portrait of Audrey," Coen shared in a press release.

"Dance magnifies Audrey’s emotional landscape and brings a heightened sense of drama and theatre to the film, as well as a rich visual language which has not yet been used in documentary."

AUDREY will feature conversations with Hepburn's son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer, Givenchy’s former Artistic Director Clare Waight Keller and Tiffany & Co's Design Director emeritus John Lorin, in a bid to bring the extraordinary woman to life once more.

While the documentary will focus on some of Hepburn's darkest moments, it will also celebrate her journey to finding inner peace; namely through the work she accomplished in her role as a global ambassador for UNICEF.

As an homage to her love for ballet, three classically trained dancers will portray Audrey throughout the different stages of her life. Royal Ballet principal dancer, Francesca Hayward (Cats) will play ‘Hollywood era Audrey’ at the height of her fame, Alessandra Ferri, one of only 13 dancers to have ever received the title of “prima ballerina assoluta,” will portray Audrey in her later years, and the film will also introduce Keira Moore as ‘Young Audrey.’

An unmissable watch for any Audrey Hepburn fan, AUDREY will be able on DVD and for digital download on December 16.
