There’s few things we love more than when fashion and film collide, and it seems Angelina Jolie agrees. The actress has set her sights on her next project, Stitches, and it’s set in the world of Parisian high fashion.
It's a fitting film for Jolie, who has cemented herself as a force in fashion not only through her elegant personal style, but with her clothing collective, Atelier Jolie. Launched in early 2023, the initiative was born from a desire to democratise fashion and creativity, by building "a place for creative people to collaborate with a skilled and diverse family of expert tailors, pattern makers and artisans from around the world," per the Atelier Jolie Website.
Ears pricked? Ours too. Read on for everything we know so far about Stitches.
What is Stitches about?
According to early reports, Stitches is set in Paris, and charts three women whose lives intersect during Paris Fashion Week. While most of the plot details remain under wraps, Jolie is rumoured to play a filmmaker, and one of the women at the centre of the action.
In line with the plot, filming for the project will take place in Paris – where Jolie also recently filmed Maria, a reimagining of the Greek opera singer by the same name during her final days in the ‘70s. The film earned an eight-minute standing ovation at Venice Film Festival, where it premiered earlier this year.
It's also not the only new film Jolie has in the works: she's also currently working on a movie with Halle Berry titled Maude v Maude, plus a third Maleficent film.
Who else is involved in Stitches?
No further casting details have been released, however we know the film will be directed by Alice Winocour. Like some of Winocour’s previous projects, Stitches will be shot in both French and English.
When will Stitches premiere?
Production is expected to begin in Paris in early 2025, so it's unlikely Stitches will hit cinemas until 2026 at the earliest.
