Luxury British fashion House Alexander McQueen is branching out of the fashion world, and dipping their toes into the olfactory world (and their first foray into homewares) with the announcement that they will be releasing their first ever candle collection. The collection features three unique and distinctive scents, called 'Ghost Flower', 'Pagan Rose', and 'Savage Bloom'. Each scent was created by a different perfumer, for whom there was a relatively open brief, each spring-boarded by the McQueen codes and guidelines and inspired by the idea tension between light and darkness.
The idea was that each scent would be "Playing on the contrast between light and darkness, innovation and tradition and strength and fragility, it upholds the juxtaposition central to the McQueen name," according to the House. 'Ghost Flower' is floral at heart, offering a nuanced blend of fresh freesia and peonies, grounded by earthy patchouli. 'Pagan Rose' is an intoxicating interplay between wild rose, cognac and earthy peat, while 'Savage bloom' is foregrounded by sweet tuberose and saffron, with a hint of oud.
In typical McQueen fashion, the candle range comes exquisitely packaged in egg-like black lacquered vessels, each with a different lid comprised of silver metal, antique dark metal and antique gold presented in a recyclable wooden crate. "Inspired by the storytelling nature of the collections, [the] candles are encased in an egg-shaped black lacquered glass with a silver, dark or gold metal lid. The glass is protected by a mycelium shell and presented in a wooden crate," said the House.
