The Air Jordan silhouette is getting yet another makeover at the hands of Aleali May, who today has released the collaboration with Jordan Brand, which is available to shop online August 20 at 12:00am via Nike SNKRS.
The collaboration sees a reimagining of the Air Jordan 14 Low, which pays tribute to the talent’s Filipino and Black heritage, alongside a capsule apparel collection designed by May and Jordan Brand.
In the collection release video, May touches on her inspiration behind the collection. “Throughout my collaborations, I always try to go back and say thank you to whoever was supporting me at the time,” May shared with Jordan Brand in an interview. “My grandmother on my dad’s side gifted me gold and jade bangles that she’d had for 20 years before that. As a young girl, my grandmother on my mom’s side also gifted me her jade bangles. Those were my first pieces of jewellery.”

In terms of the design, the shoe is clad with elements of Jade, which holds sentimental value to May. While they are not encrusted with actual chunks of the semi-precious stone, the midsoles are embellished with marbled green accents, alongside a light beige suede upper for a tonal look. The garments include biker-style zip-up shirts, a black tee with retro Jordan branding, tank tops and shorts influenced by May’s connection with the motorbike culture in Los Angeles and Manila, as she explains.
“We’d often see images of MJ getting out of a sports car, so for the campaign, I wanted to be getting off of a bike,” May said. “Jordan Brand has a motorsports history, and I wanted to see what that would look like today from a woman’s perspective.”
