Although separated by continents, an ocean and thousands of miles, there's a kinaesthetic energy that connects the Albus Lumen woman to Paris. Whether for the brands effortlessly elegant and cool intuition, or the way founder Marina Afonina's pieces refuse to conform to their surroundings – the same way Parisians are inherently French no matter where they rest their heads.
So, what happens when the two worlds collide? With photographer Diana Bartlett behind the camera and 'it' girl Rosemarie Vind our personal tour guide, it's a daytime, street affair. These clothes are made for walking, after all, and everyone knows never to take a sunny day in Paris for granted.
See all the precious moments captured below, as creative director of Albus Lumen's société space, Anna Feller, speaks to Bartlett about her favourite Parisian haunts and the place of the Albus Lumen woman.
Very happy to have you involved in this injection for Albus. How is being based in Paris as a creative feeling at this point in time for you?
Thankful to be a part of it! Being based in Paris is inspiring — the city is definitely alive and thriving. There’s a collaborative and casual energy in Paris more so than New York that I really identify with right now.
What are some of your favourite Paris haunts?
Bistrot Paul Bert for steak au poivre and natural wine, Harry’s Bar for a post dinner martini before heading out dancing.
Black or white?
Both but I like to wear them head to to toe, monochromatic looks all the way!
What does the Albus Lumen woman mean to you?
The Albus Lumen woman is effortlessly elegant and cool, she wears the same thing by the sea that she wears in the city. She doesn’t conform to her surroundings, her surroundings conform to her.
Tell me about your favourite sounds for our Paris shoot?
I was listening to Whole New Life by GENTS on repeat while we were shooting so it would have to be that! It’s also the perfect song as we’re coming into spring/summer. Road-trips with the top down.
If you could choose one destination to explain life on the road?
It’s always a different city or country. But this week I’m driving from Cap Ferrat in the south of France along the coast through Monaco and Italy ending in Milano for the art fair, miart. Milanese culture and aesthetics are a big inspiration right now.
Your favourite food?
I’m really good at snacking — at any given moment (train or not) I’ll have tinned fish, crackers and medjool dates my bag.
